One of the three brand new electric commercial vehicles coming from Volkswagen is the e-Caddy. It’s compact nature and quietness makes this vehicle perfect for driving down those narrow and congested city roads. It is planned to launch onto the market in mid-2020.
A Joint Effort
The e-Caddy, along with the e-Transporter, is a joint design project by Volkswagen and ABT. The intelligent, compact design means it’s ideal for an urban environment, and of course it puts out zero-emissions. Along with its two fellow compatriots, it’s paving the way to an electric future for commercial vehicles.
Space and Power.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is not just selling the e-Caddy as a van, they’re also presenting it as a taxi. There’s extensive space inside, and can easily carry five passengers plus luggage. Being electric, it will thrive in the busy city centres, and be an appealing new option for taxi companies.
Within the e-Caddy is a 82-kW electric motor which pulls its energy from a lithium-ion battery. With an energy capacity of 37.3 kWh, and a top speed of 120 km/h, it’s fair to say that the e-Caddy is an all-rounder. The space, combined with its performance makes it a welcome addition to the electric vehicle market.
