How the new Volkswagen Touran received 5 stars from Euro NCAP

When it comes to moving your family around, safety will be one of your primary concerns.

Volkswagen should be your first port of call, as the new five and seven seater Touran has received top marks from the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) for its safety features.

The Touran has front airbags for both the driver and the passenger, as well as belt pretensioners and belt load limiters for the driver, passenger and rear occupants, and a driver's side knee airbag for the. There are also head and chest airbags available to keep all passengers in the car safe if a crash from behind should occur.

To help keep your youngsters safe, ISOFIX and top tether child seat attachments are fitted as standard to keep the child’s seat secure in the back seats. There is also an airbag cut-off switch in the passenger seat, as well as a seatbelt reminder to keep everyone safely strapped in.

The small MPV also has an active bonnet system which helps to protect pedestrians. This helps to protect pedestrians upon impact by sensing the presence of a person and lifting the bonnet away from hard components of the engine.

Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with counter steer assistance, ABS with braking assist, automatic post-collision braking, a tyre pressure monitoring system and driver alert are all available as standard on the new car. As an optional extra, the Touran can be fitted with speed assistance, AEB City, AEB Inter-Urban, and a lane assist system to further assist the driver in avoiding a collision in the first place!
