A Guide to Inchcape Approved Used Cars

A walkthrough of the Inchcape used car approval process

The comprehensive preparation process used to ensure we maintain the high standards customers expect of our used cars.

1. Stock Selection

Inchcape have four Used Car Centres in which they stock vehicles for all budgets, tastes and requirements.

Most of the used car stock, are sourced from other Inchcape Dealerships when customers part exchange their cars. As a result, unlike many used car dealers who buy 'blind' from auction, we already know these cars inside out and can decide whether they are worthy of being sold in our Used Car Centres.

All cars sold in our Used Car Centres go through a comprehensive process to ensure they are representative of the Inchcape brand and offer value and quality. In this guide we will follow an Audi A5 Black Edition as it goes through the process from selection to sale at our Used Car Centre in Burton.

2. Appraisal

Once a used car has arrived on site it then goes through a thorough appraisal.

First, all documents, service and MOT history is checked against the DVLA records to ensure the car is legitimate and that nothing is missing. These checks also ensure the car's history is clear of outstanding HPI, has never been stolen, there are no mileage discrepancies or colour changes.

Once this has been done, the car is given a through inspection and any issues identified are remedied. If a service or MOT is due within 6 months these are completed to Inchcape's stringent standards.

This Audi A5 passed so continues to the next stage.

3. Preparation: Repair

To ensure Inchcape's used cars look their best the next stage is a full appraisal of the body work. Any damage to the wheels, paintwork, glass or interior is corrected.

All Inchcape Used Car Centres have specialist, experienced technicians and paint booth workers and the latest equipment to ensure all work completed is to an expectational standard. As a result Inchcape used cars are all of a high quality which increases their value and appeal expected by customers.

The Audi A5 had a very small dent to the rear which was professionally repaired, body colour matched, resprayed and polished.

4. Preparation: Paint Correction

To complete the appraisal process, the car is then fully prepared inside and out using high quality vehicle detailing equipment and materials by Inchcape's experienced car valet teams.

This process includes a machine polish to remove any light scratches and swirls and to result in a high gloss finish. All surfaces are then protected to ensure the car looks at its best for years to come.

The Audi A5 was fully machine polished which benefitted this car especially due to its black paintwork.

5. Sell and Click and Collect

Once a used car has gone through the process it receives a final check. It is then photographed and marketed online on the Inchcape website. Click below to see Inchcape's range of used cars.

Inchcape Used Car Centres and Dealerships offer Click and Collect which is especially important during the COVID 19 Pandemic. Through this customers can browse the entire new and used stock, request a personalised video, reserve online, discuss funding and part exchange options and finally collect at a convenient time in an outside location. Inchcape customers can be reassured by the exacting standards that all cars go through to be sold in the Inchcape Used Car Centres.
